About the collaboration
Born 1914 in Helsinki into a family of artists, Tove Jansson spent her life painting, writing, and illustrating. While she became internationally loved for creating the whimsical world of the Moomins, her art was always rooted in something much closer to home: real life. Tove spent her summers on a small, windswept island in the Gulf of Finland. Surrounded by nature, she developed a rare gift for noticing extraordinary magic in everyday moments, something that shines through in her work and reflects the core of our beliefs at Once Upon.
